Magdalene “Maggie” Zaborowski, age 83 of Gaylord passed away at McReynold’s Hall on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Maggie was born in Gaylord on October 27, 1934 to Frank and Pauline (Mankowski) Koscielniak.   She was married to George Zaborowski, on September 17, 1955.

Maggie was a tenderhearted person who cared deeply for the under privileged and those with special needs.  She worked as a paraprofessional through the Cheboygan-Otsego- Presque Isle Education Service District where she retired after 20 years of service.  She devoted her life to making a difference with everyone she encountered.  She and George enjoyed traveling and polka dancing.  Maggie was a member of the Red Hat Society.  She was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith.

Maggie took great delight in the time spent with her family.  She was a believer in creating memories and keeping traditions alive.  She loved to decorate for every holiday and made each season special for all the grandkids.  Her legacy will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Maggie is survived by her husband of 62 years; children, David (Patti) Zaborowski, Paula (Kelly) Coleman, Dennis (Pam) Zaborowski; grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Tober, Anne Marie Coleman, Katy (Luke) Traylor, Joey Zaborowski, Jenna (Max) Backlund; great grandchildren, Reid and Addy Traylor and Baby “T” due in January of 2018; brother, Stanley (Maxine) Koscielniak and sisters, Margie Zietz and Fran Tuszynski.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frank “Jr.” Koscielniak.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10 AM from St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord.

Visitation will take place at Nelson Funeral Home on Friday, November 10, from 4PM – 8 PM and on Saturday at the cathedral beginning at 9 AM until the time of Mass.

A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be offered on Friday at the funeral home beginning at 7 PM

Memorial contributions in Maggie’s honor may be made to McReynolds Hall or to the Otsego County Commission on Aging.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, P.O. Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

  2. Maggie was a gem of a person, one I personally enjoyed chatting with each time our paths crossed. Anyone who really knew her, loved her. My sincere condolences to her family during their loss. You are most fortunate to have called her mother, sister, wife, aunt and busha.
