Thomas Edward Clark, 71, of Drummond Island, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021.

He was born to Edward and Nola Jean (Smith) Clark on August 30, 1949, in Flint, Michigan.

Thomas was a special education teacher for 22 years at Akron-Fairgrove Schools, where he was also a volleyball and football coach for many years. Tom and Marsha fulfilled their dream of retiring to their home on Drummond Island. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing. A love that he passed on to his family. Tom treasured time with his family. His children and grandchildren were his proudest accomplishments. He was involved in all his grandkids activities as their self-proclaimed “Biggest Fan”. Tom enjoyed his time with dear friends, always ready for a good joke, a laugh, and another great memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife Marsha (Morse) of 51 and half years; children: Heather Clark and Kiersten (Shaun) Garbulinski; grandchildren: A’Vree and Collin, siblings: Chet (Rose) Clark, Teri Kirkpatrick, Tim Clark, Tracy (Mary) Clark, Tami Clark, Scott Clark, Dan Clark, Teresa Louchart, Troy (Karen) Clark and T’Lynne (Ben) Seyfarth.

A memorial service will be held June 17, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center Ave., Gaylord, MI 49735 from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Special Olympics website or mailing a contribution to Special Olympics Michigan 1150 Scott Lake Road, Suite 3A Waterford, MI 48328.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
