Stephen Paul “Steve, Squatch” Erwin, 41, of Ellsworth, Michigan, went home to Jesus on September 18th, 2021, surrounded by his family. Loving husband of Rachelle, for 3 amazing years. Proud father of Chloe Erwin and son, Landen McCalib. He was the beloved son of Stephen Lee and Teresa Erwin.  A Friend to all, brother to many.

Steve loved Harley motorcycles, classic cars, and custom trucks. Living out in the country he enjoyed hunting, riding his horse, and especially riding dirt bikes with his son and his friends. In the winter he would trailer the family, and their snowmobiles, all over the north to find new sites. Every day was an adventure in the Erwin household.

Always known for his sense of humor, larger-than-life personality, and most infectious laugh, it was never difficult to find the big guy in a crowd! Steve was quite the social butterfly and was out and about at different events whenever he had the chance.

Another joy in his life was serving. Steve loved helping at church events, and anywhere he was needed. He was a pivotal part of the local non-profit DYSUN, serving as a board member. Steve also proudly held the position of Vice President to the Huron Valley Chapter Copperheads, a Law Enforcement/First Responder motorcycle club.

The family will receive friends for a viewing on Friday, September 24th, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord, MI. The Funeral will be held at the E-Free Church in Gaylord, on Saturday, September 25, 2021, with visitation at 9:00 a.m. and the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m.

Graveside service will follow at the Ellsworth Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

Rachelle, words can’t express the pain we feel for you and your family. Steve was an absolutely amazing man! From the few times that I had met Steve not a time went by when he didn’t mention you and his kids. He was bigger than life and will be forever missed. You will be reunited again. Your and your family will be in our prayers and thoughts. I’ll never forgot Steve, his amazing love for anything with a motor and a larger than life smile. Such a good, good man.

  10. Lee and I are very sorry for your loss. We will miss him stopping by whenever he went by the house and we were outside. There was always a good laugh. You are in our prayers.
