Sharon Caroline Gapinski passed away on August 2, 2021, in Gaylord, Michigan.

She was born August 15, 1948, in Detroit, MI, to Floyd and Emily (Prusakiewicz) Kucharek.

After visiting the 1964 World’s Fair in New York City, she met her future husband Philip Gapinski in Gaylord, who was impressed by her travels and eagerness to travel together. Sharon pursued her education and became a registered respiratory therapist, practicing at several Detroit area hospitals.

She was a member of St. Mary Altar Rosary Society and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. Sharon loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening, antiques, storytelling, reminiscing, baking, and being on the family farm.

Sharon is survived by her loving and supportive husband of 54 years, Philip; her mother, Emily Kucharek; daughters, Stacey (John) Kujawa and Kelly (Kirk) Sobocinski; grandchildren, Dr. Marisa Kujawa (Muhammad Abbas), Jacob Kujawa, Benjamin Sobocinski, and Nathan Sobocinski; and many nieces and nephews. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Kucharek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., from St. Mary Cathedral. Visitation will be held at the cathedral beginning at 9:00 a.m. St. Mary Altar Rosary Society will offer a rosary at 9:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Cathedral Schools, 606 N. Ohio Ave., Gaylord, MI 49735.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
