Ruby Jean Peterson, age 91, of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, at home with her family by her side.

She was born on February 27, 1932, to Fred and Ethel (Price) Kuhn, in Marietta, Ohio. She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star for many years.

Ruby was known by many as the โ€œgreeterโ€ at Walmart, which she enjoyed well into her 80s. She had a strong work ethic which enabled her to touch the lives of many with her positive demeanor.

Her passion was her family and she loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and she even became a great-great-grandmother. She would light up each time everyone got together. Ruby enjoyed the Christmas season the most and hosted her family for Christmas Eve each year. Surrounded by her family, she enjoyed seeing them grow and being able to celebrate the season of giving with those she loved.

She is survived by her children, Judy6 (Chuck) Samkowiak, June (John) Koronka, and Robert (Marlene) Peterson, II, all of Gaylord;  four grandchildren, Jenny (Pat) Van Daele, Tammy (Mike) Pickelmann, Alex Peterson, and Jackie (Nate) Auman; seven great-grandchildren, Trevor, Lindsay, Faith, Kelsey, Emily, Emberlee, and Adrianne; and two great-great-grandchildren, Grayson and Baxley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ethel Kuhn; brothers, James, Dwight, and Fred; and sisters, Eleanor and her twin, Ruth.

The family will remember her privately with a graveside memorial in the spring.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
