Rosa “Rose” Catherine Bozzer, longtime Gaylord resident and business owner, passed away at the age of 77 on Friday, March 20, 2020, while vacationing in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Rose was born on April 12, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Anthony and Joan Bonomo.

In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother of four children, she was a successful businesswoman with a love for fashion. After selflessly helping her husband build his company, Rose ventured on her own and opened Rose’s Bridal Boutique for approximately ten years. A pillar in the business community, she also dedicated her time volunteering for the United Way in the local area. However, she was the happiest when surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral Parish.

Rose is survived by her children, Rita (Tim) Johnson, Elizabeth (Tom) Richmond, Nancy (Jim) Thompson, and Nelson Bozzer, Jr.; grandchildren, Lisa (Matt) Daly, Christina (Buddy) Pardo, Dillon (Samantha) Thompson, Carley Bozzer, Zachary Johnson, and Enzo Richmond; great-grandchildren, Lukas and Allison Daly, and Gwendolyn and Katelyn Pardo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson Bozzer, Sr.; and her sister Catherina “Katie” Consolo.

A Spring burial will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, beginning at 9:00 a.m. from Resurrection Cemetery, Vanderbilt, Michigan.

  1. Condolences to Rose’s children and their families. Rose was a good friend and we had a lot of good conversations and laughs. Bless her.

Rita, Nancy. Liz, and JR: We are so very saddened to hear about your mom. We had some good times through the years at LN, and know she’s in a better place. Hope your many memories will help at this very difficult time. We know Rose is at peace now. No pain, and with your dad and family. You’re in our thoughts and prayers.

  3. Nelson and Rose were two of the hardest working people I have had the pleasure of knowing. The American dream is exemplified by the Bozzer Brothers and their families. Rose had an infectious smile and a personality to match. I am saddened by her passing but happy for Nelson that they are back together again. Best to the family.

  4. Rose was a super volunteer for our OC Holiday Giving program Angel tree. She always wore a big smile and twinkle in her eyes. She has been surely missed.

  5. Aunt Rose was always so much fun, loved to laugh, entertain, was truly at her happiest when surrounded by family. I will never forget the garage parties – especially Uncle Nelson’s birthday party where he received his present of a motorcycle (so much fun!), the opening of her bridal shop, and just the pure enjoyment of going “Up North” to hang out. Such good times, wonderful memories to hold on to. I know she is healthy and happy once again with our family above. Peace and love to those of us who remain.

  6. So sorry to hear of Rose’s passing. It was always such a delight to shop at her fine establishment. She was possessed of exceptional style and grace and her devotion to her family was an integral part of her personality. She will be missed.
