Richard Dale “Dick” Ormsbee, 80, of Vanderbilt, passed away on March 29, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 24, 1940, to Milfred and Priscilla (Spring) Ormsbee.

Richard loved living in Northern Michigan and took advantage of everything they had to offer, especially fishing, camping, and hunting. He enjoyed wood carving, watching TV, and playing board and card games with his family.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Lucas Poirier; brother, Mark Ormsbee; and sister-in-law, Shari Ormsbee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Evonne; his children, Richard (Deb) Bennett, Dale (Mindy) Ormsbee, Susie (George) O’Connell, Jeff (Rhonda) Ormsbee, Lila Ormsbee, Virgil (Ambar) Poirier, David Ormsbee, Melinda “Mindy” Brown, Vence Poirier, Daniel “DJ” (Samantha) Poirier; his siblings, Arletta (Lou) Harrier, Beatrice (Phil) Kelly, Linda (Jack) Deloy, Sherm Ormsbee, Mitch (Shirley) Ormsbee, Mickey Ormsbee, Ramona (Kevin) Calarney; sister-in-law, Linda Ormsbee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is tentatively scheduled to be held on April 10, 2021, at the Wolverine Baptist Church, the time will be updated once it is confirmed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family through Nelson Funeral Home, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734, to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

  3. Dear Karslake Family, I am so sorry to learn of your parents passing. My husband, George, and I knew your dad when he was about 10 yrs old when we moved to Vanderbilt. He grew into a
    very good man and later became a good friend to George.
    May they both rest in peace.
