Michael Thomas Wilde, age 51, of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away on September 8, 2021, at Munson Healthcare Otsego Memorial Hospital.
Mike was born on December 17, 1969, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to Thomas and Kathy (Allor) Wilde.
He graduated from Notre Dame High School and Lake Superior State University.
On April 23, 2005, he married Kathy Anderson, and together they adopted 5 children.
Mike loved the outdoors and could frequently be found in a fishing boat, deer blind, or relaxing next to a campfire with family and friends. He loved sports in general, but especially hockey and football. Mike was always willing to chat about the Red Wings, gripe about the Lions, and the upcoming weather – especially if snow was involved. His family meant the world to him, and he was their greatest fan.
His Catholic faith was important to him, and he was proud to be among the brotherhood of the Knights of Columbus. He found his calling as an insurance agent for the Knights of Columbus, and genuinely cared for his clients, and loved helping their families. His generous heart, friendly smile, analytical mind, witty sense of humor, and loving spirit will be missed by many.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kathy (Anderson); children, Joanna (Matt) Worden of Kalamazoo, Jakie Wilde of Rogers City, Jazlyn Wilde of Charlotte, Kyle Wilde and Makyla Wilde of Gaylord; granddaughters, Kalani and Raelyn; his parents, Tom and Kathy of St. Clair Shores; his sister, Michelle (Ed) LeBlanc of North Carolina; niece, Casey; nephews, Jacob and Mason; in-laws, Joe and Mary Anderson of Johannesburg; extra mom, Pat Weimer of Mackinaw City; aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends that were as close as family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. from St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord, with visitation from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services.
St. Mary Knights of Columbus will offer a rosary at St. Mary Cathedral at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help the family defray the cost of medical expenses.
Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

So sorry for your loss! I’ll always be grateful for all the help and support Mike and Kathy provided for the North Higgins Lake Fall Festival. They were key to its success when it was running. Mike and Kathy were some of the most giving people I have run across! I hope and pray for Kathy and the family.

Mike was our Knights of Columbus insurance agent. He was always so helpful to the members of the Grayling Knights of Columbus Council 1982.

A loss that will be deeply felt by all, always went above and beyond to give help to anyone in need. May you Rest In Peace my friend.
Mike was so unique in that you could bump into him, and the conversation started up right where you left off before. Casual, comfortable, and personable were the traits he exuded. May he now rejoice in the sight of our Lord and may he rest in his peace.
With deepest sympathy 🙏🏻💕
My prayers are with you Kathy, Mike was a great salesman & he went beyond the extra mile to take care of his customers. I have known him since he worked at cellphone, even after leaving there, every time he came in or called Johnson Oil he always said Hello. He will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace my friend Michael.
Seemingly every happy childhood memory included Mike. From the pumpkin patch in the fall, to being the all time goalie in basement hockey at Aunt Kate and UT’s house, Mike was always quick to include me and treated me like a little brother, not just a cousin.
That was Mike…huge heart, family first and someone to look up to. Time marched on, and the distance bewteen us only grew, but my admiration for him never changed. He raised beatiful children, loved his wife, and valued his work and cared for his clients. I share in sorrow with all of you who knew Mike, and take comfort in the choir of angels who are taking him to heaven. Rest easy Cuz, you are loved, and you will be deeply missed.
– Cousin Jeff
Mike was a man who made his career helping families protect their assets and help with their financial growth! I’ll never understand how someone devoting their time to the Catholic Communities is taken away at such a young age!! RIP Mike, we have a lot of great memories from Schwan’s and K of C!!
So sorry to hear about Mike, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
We cannot imagine your pain, gone too soon. May you find comfort wherever you can. Healing hugs from Pat, Tom and Moose.
I am so sorry for your loss. Mike was always so nice to me. May Our Lord grant all of you strength and peace. My heart goes out to all of you. <3
