Martha “Marty” Makarewicz, 79, longtime Elmira, Michigan resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at The Brook of Grayling.
She was born in Gaylord, Michigan,  on April 24, 1940, the daughter of Anthony C. and Martha (Tulish) Pomarzynski.
On Oct 4, 1958 she married Casimer Makarewicz.
Marty was a hard-working woman. She was employed by United Technologies for 13 years.  She was also a homemaker for 18 years.  Marty enjoyed canning, loved the outdoors, snowmobiling, and the annual Polish Festival in Boyne Falls, Michgan.  She looked forward to the family annual corn roast which has been held for 45 years.
Marty also loved polka music and was quite an enthusiastic polka dancer in her day.
She had a great passion for her religion, family and most importantly her two grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Gary (Joan), Jeff (Karen Dekoski) and Colleen (Andrew) Kujawa; 2 grandchildren, Curtis (Samantha) Kujawa and Megan Kujawa; brother John Pomarzynski; sister Angeline Ciszewski; brother-in-law Lyle Horsell, and sister-in-law Diane Pomarzynski.
She is preceded in death by her husband; sister Gertude Horsell; Charles Pomarzynski; sister-in-law Nila Pomarzynski; and brother-in-law Carl Ciszewski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Elmira.
Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  A Rosary will be offered at the funeral home, Tuesday evening, at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery in Elmira.

    Gary, Jeff, & Colleen, so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. Her journey is over, but I am sure she and my mother are dancing together in heaven, and getting after Uncle Charlie. So glad I was able to spend time with her when I was in Gaylord a few weeks ago. Have wonderful memories of all our good times together as a family. RIP Aunt Marty, I will miss you.
