Marita Carol Branch, aka M. Carol Branch, aka Carol, of Gaylord, Michigan, died on July 14, 2022.  She was born December 4, 1927, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the second child of Ralph M. and Margaret G. Branch.

Carol progressed through the Ann Arbor public school system graduating in 1945, and received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1952. During this time, she was a counselor and then the director of the Ann Arbor WYCA- Camp Takona.

Following her studies in Michigan, she studied in Gainesville, Florida to earn her master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Florida. She taught in Southfield, Michigan for twenty-nine years before retiring in 1984.

Throughout her lifetime, Carol was always interested in and involved with science and nature, the out-of-doors, and conservation. She was a life member of MARSP (retired school personnel), Gaylord Country Club, Halifax River Audubon (Florida), Northern Michigan Antique Flywheelers Club, and Northern Michigan Coin and Stamp Club. While living in Hudson Township, Charlevoix County, for several years, was active with the township auxiliary calling bingo and helping with other township activities.

Carol is survived by her nieces and nephews, Marie Vincent of Vanderbilt, Brian Dale Vincent of Grand Rapids, Molly (William) Givinsky of Jerome, Matthew Joel (Martha) Vincent of Ann Arbor, Christopher (Marcie) Rau of Gaylord, Gregory Rau of Grand Rapids, Bryan (Tina) Rau of Gig Harbor, Wash., Jeffrey (Brittany) Rau of Melboume, Florida, John (Nicole) Treves of Omaha, Nebraska, and David (Jeanne) Treves of Louisville, Ky.

Carol’s ashes will be scattered and, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box, 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
