Margaret Anne Penney, 89, of Gaylord, Michigan passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

She was born the daughter of Cyril and Mable (Bough) Penney in Royal Oak, MI, June 21, 1932.

Margaret received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Michigan. She moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1962 where she worked as an associate professor in physical education at the University of Nebraska. Margaret was instrumental in creating intermural women’s volleyball eventually growing it into intercollegiate in Nebraska. Upon her retirement in 1994, she enjoyed travelling as she had in her youth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard Penney.

Margaret is survived by her sister-in-law, Judy Penney; niece, Linda Redman; nephew, Steve Penney; step-nephew, Dan Dryden; step-niece, Susan Roberts; great-nephews, James Redman, David Redman, Jonathan Roberts, and Michael Dryden; great-nieces, Cecilia Roberts and Andrea Dryden.

Cremation has taken place. A burial of ashes will be held in the spring at White Chapel Cemetery, in Troy Michigan.
