Maggie (Padgett) Beals

Margaret “Maggie” (Padgett) Beals, age 81, of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away on June 28, 2023.

She was born on September 9, 1941, to Fred and Pearl (Walsh) Padgett in Cheboygan. Maggie graduated from Gaylord High School in 1959 and married Herbert Beals in 1980. She worked for several years with her husband at Schmidt Amusement.

Maggie liked to knit and do embroidery and crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader and loved playing with her kitty, Dolly.

You could often find Maggie listening to her favorite music and playing a game of cards.

She is survived by her stepson, George (Kelly) Beals of Florida; her siblings, Freddie (Marge) Padgett of Elmira, John (Sue) Padgett, Chris (Keith) Wells, and Lindy (Bob) Devitt all of Gaylord; three granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Herb, in 2007.

A funeral service will be held at Nelson Funeral Home on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Otsego County Animal Shelter, at 256 Fairview Rd., Gaylord, MI 49735, in Maggie’s name.
