Laura Jane Kreger, age 83, of Gaylord, Michigan, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on October 1, 2023.

She was born in Gaylord on April 10, 1940, one of nine children of Ernest and Violet (Koronka) Dowker.

In 1958, she married her husband, Dale Kreger, and together they owned and operated the Busy Bee Market in Johannesburg, until his passing in 2008.

She is survived by her 4 children; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren, to whom she loved very much.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; and granddaughter, Lauren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cathedral, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and a private burial to follow.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

    Kind, loving, honest and most of all helpful,
    Laura helped raise our Codee and Cassidy, and a constant thru our medical challenges.
    She and Dale ALWAYs welcomed giggle-filled visits.
    She was so brave in her challenges ;a role-model for her wonderful boys, her fine daughter, and for certain us.

    Laura was a gift to many people. She was always thoughtful and kind; and it made my day to have a laugh with her. She was a wonderful friend. She said that she would hold The Gate open for me the last time we spoke.

She and my mom worked at OMH together as well and became good friends and traveling buddies.
