Kenneth Joseph Jurewicz, 73, of Indian River, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 24, 2018.

Ken was born on July 20, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Chester and Gertrude Jurewicz. He grew up in Hamtramck, MI and graduated from St. Lads High School. On May 29, 1976, he married Cynthia “Cindy” Smith, and they set up their home in Northern Michigan where he worked as a carpenter and a painter. Ken enjoyed many activities, such as camping, golfing, fishing, dirt bike riding, gardening, and metal detecting.

Ken is survived by his wife, Cindy (Smith) Jurewicz. Also surviving are his son, Thomas “TJ” Jurewicz of Sterling Heights, MI; a brother, Richard (Melanie) Jurewicz of Indian River, MI; and a sister, Patricia (Gary) Sutkiewicz of Rochester Hills, MI.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, October 1, 2018 at the
Cross in the Woods National Shrine. Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM with a Mass at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon at the Shrine Family Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice, Cheboygan, MI.

  1. I would like to express my deepest condolences on the loss of your husband, father and brother. May you find encouraging the words found in the Bible at Revelation 21:4, where God tells us that very soon he will do away with death and sickness from the Earth forever, and then he will resurrect Ken to perfect life here on Earth, surrounded by family and friends, which has always been God’s purpose for mankind and for the Earth.
