Kay Ann Anderson, age 72, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022.  She was born March 11, 1950, in Huntington, Indiana to Howard and Marjorie (Sunderman) Rohrabaugh. 

Kay grew up in Huntington, Indiana, and at the age of 18, she became a licensed cosmetologist. She continued that path until 1980.  In 1974, she assisted in the establishment of Ell-Tron Manufacturing in Ellsworth, Michigan. Ell-Tron moved to Vanderbilt, Michigan in 1984. She co-owned the business with her son Craig, until her passing.  Over the years they have had many cherished employees that grew the family business to over 400 customers worldwide.  She played a role in every aspect of the business.  Kay was compassionate and sympathetic to every employee’s needs and was always willing to help others when needed.

Kay was diagnosed with dementia and has been in assisted living for just a short year.  She lived a full life with travel and adventure, many great friends and family, and a loving husband, Al Anderson.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Jay Dee, and Gary Rohrabaugh.

She will continue to be loved by her husband Al; her son, Craig (Melissa) VanTielen of Vanderbilt; stepsons, Seven (Chrissy) of Mt. Airy, MD, Alan (Billie) Anderson of Sterling Hts., MI, Melody (Dan) Rakes, Howard Anderson, Jeff (Lisa) Holm of Vanderbilt, MI, and Brian (Violet) Holm of Boyne City, MI; grandchildren, Alisha Clark, Summer (Chad) Traub, and Dominic VanTielen; step-grandchildren, Steven Anderson, A.J. Anderson, Amanda Anderson, Abigaile Anderson, Gabriella Anderson, Zachery (Alexandra) Holm, Katie (Albert James) Jewell, Cooper Holm, Phoebe Holm, Nicholas Rakes, and Emily Rakes; great-grandchildren, Madisyn Grace VanTielen, and Brady Traub; step-great-grandchildren, Teddy, Emmet, and Owen Holm; sister-in-law, Becky (Joe) Underwood, and Bonnie Rohrabaugh; also several beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center Ave., Gaylord, MI 49735.

Visitation will begin at the Nelson Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., at Southern Cemetery in Central Lake Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otsego County Animal Shelter, 256 Fairview Rd., Gaylord, MI 49735.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, P.O. Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

  1. Al and Family, We’re so very sorry for your loss of Kay (Wife). I met Kay a few times, wow, she was a wonderful spirited person, kind, and a joy to speak with. Kay and Al had invited us to come for a visit to their home out of state, I got sick and couldn’t go, but I got the biggest hug from her. What a kind special person she was, she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
