Mr. Ryan Lucas Kargela, son of Kim Kargela and Tim Suber and lifelong resident of Gaylord for twelve years, passed away at home on March 23, 2017. Beloved by family, friends, and classmates, Ry Guy was known for his radiant smile, boisterous belly laughs, generous spirit, and unvanquished attitude.

Ryan’s imagination and sense of humor made everyday activities an adventure.  He loved attending school, reading, swimming, telling jokes, snort laughing, chasing his cats, going to plays and musicals, being onstage, eating in restaurants, talking about 6th grade camp, watching and acting out movies, and traveling.  He especially enjoyed visiting his Yooper Family and Southern Family.

Sweet Ryan was a joyful soul blessed with loving parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates, teachers, and doctors.  We are all lucky to have shared in the life of this exuberant toughie.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 1PM from the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Gaylord, Michigan.

Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 beginning at 11 AM until the time of service.

  1. I remember Phyllis playing piano every Sunday at the Otsego Lake Baptist Church. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

    • My condolences to Phyllis’s family. Phyllis was the sweetest lady. I met her and Ruth when I worked at the Holiday Gas Station I use to rent from her and Ruth. I miss them dearly. May you find comfort in your memories. God Bless.

I worked with Phyllis when we both worked at the Gaylord State Bank. Sincerely sorry for the families loss.

Kim, Connor and I are so very sorry for your loss of Ryan. What a great, funny, adorable little man you raised. We are honored to have known him…we didn’t know him well but he left his mark.

Our prayers go out to Ryan’s family in this time of loss. He is no doubt with Henry awaiting our arrival to spend eternity together.

            • My thoughts and prayers are with the Kargela family especially Kim. I’m reminded of the text in Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Our family is so sorry for your loss. Our Emily was in class with him. She said “mom, he was the kindest person I’ve ever known. He would be nice to everyone, even the mean kids”.

Our hearts couldn’t hurt more. Ryan was such a sweet and dear guy! He was a bright, constant and enduring light in the world. The 6th grade class won’t be the same without him. Our thoughts and prayers are sent with much love and sorrow. May your hearts find peace and comfort from the love expressed here from all the lives he touched.

                  • I am so sorry for your loss of Ryan. I got to meet him at one of my classes. Ryan was a great kid! He laughed telling jokes and being a comedy kid around me. He always made me smile. When I heard about this, I was sad and shocked! I loved him so much! I feel like he was like…a second cousin to me. I could just sit there and talk to him all day. He will be missed ! rip! love you man! always in my heart, forever!

                    • Ryan was a friend to me and my fellow
classmates. He was a hero, lifesaver, an entertainer,a funny class clown to his mom and my fellow classmates. We will all miss him! rip Ryan Kargela. May he rest in peace

                      • I had the pleasure of working with Ryan when he was a preschooler. He was such a sweet and funny little boy. It has been years since I have seen him but was so happy to see him in the paper as part of a play. I am so sorry for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

                        • My heart breaks for you. I didn’t know Ryan well, but the few times I met him his special nature and loving heart were aglow. May he Rest In Peace and may his light shine in the hearts of those who had the fortunate pleasure of knowing and loving him. Big hugs.

                              • My daughter Lily and Ryan have gone to school together since elementary. I first met him a few years back when he attended her birthday party. I wasn’t close with Ryan, but you know when you meet someone in your lifetime that you’re just drawn to because of the light that they carry about them? Ryan was like that for me. Over the past few years our paths would intersect at various school times, and I always said hi and asked how he was doing. I truly enjoyed seeing his smiling face whenever we would meet. I am grateful to have met him; even if it was such a small part in his life. He was a special one, and I’m sure that anyone that knew him, no matter how little, can say they feel that way too. Prayers to his family and to all of those that loved him. May he eternally Rest In Peace.
