Mr. Ryan Lucas Kargela, son of Kim Kargela and Tim Suber and lifelong resident of Gaylord for twelve years, passed away at home on March 23, 2017. Beloved by family, friends, and classmates, Ry Guy was known for his radiant smile, boisterous belly laughs, generous spirit, and unvanquished attitude.

Ryan’s imagination and sense of humor made everyday activities an adventure.  He loved attending school, reading, swimming, telling jokes, snort laughing, chasing his cats, going to plays and musicals, being onstage, eating in restaurants, talking about 6th grade camp, watching and acting out movies, and traveling.  He especially enjoyed visiting his Yooper Family and Southern Family.

Sweet Ryan was a joyful soul blessed with loving parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates, teachers, and doctors.  We are all lucky to have shared in the life of this exuberant toughie.

  1. I remember Phyllis playing piano every Sunday at the Otsego Lake Baptist Church. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.

  2. My condolences to Phyllis’s family. Phyllis was the sweetest lady. I met her and Ruth when I worked at the Holiday Gas Station I use to rent from her and Ruth. I miss them dearly. May you find comfort in your memories. God Bless.

Our prayers go out to Ryan’s family in this time of loss. He is no doubt with Henry awaiting our arrival to spend eternity together.

  6. My thoughts and prayers are with the Kargela family especially Kim. I’m reminded of the text in Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Our family is so sorry for your loss. Our Emily was in class with him. She said “mom, he was the kindest person I’ve ever known. He would be nice to everyone, even the mean kids”.

  14. Even though I never got to meet Ryan, I felt I knew him after getting to see pictures of him through the years… and the pictures always made us smile 🙂 He was truly one of life’s blessings in his short life..
My thoughts and prayers are with you all, with love from his 3rd cousin

  15. My daughter Lily and Ryan have gone to school together since elementary. I first met him a few years back when he attended her birthday party. I wasn’t close with Ryan, but you know when you meet someone in your lifetime that you’re just drawn to because of the light that they carry about them? Ryan was like that for me. Over the past few years our paths would intersect at various school times, and I always said hi and asked how he was doing. I truly enjoyed seeing his smiling face whenever we would meet. I am grateful to have met him; even if it was such a small part in his life. He was a special one, and I’m sure that anyone that knew him, no matter how little, can say they feel that way too. Prayers to his family and to all of those that loved him. May he eternally Rest In Peace.
