John Andrew Sharpe, “Tinpansam,” age 74, passed away unexpectedly, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

John was born on April 6, 1949, in Warren, Michigan, to his late parents, Theodore (Ted) and Emma (Windemuth) Sharpe.

John served in the US Army for five years as a heavy machinery mechanic, then continued his trade for another 30 years before retiring. He was married on December 19, 1970, to his late wife, Debra Kathleen (Becker) Sharpe. They lived in East Point, MI, and moved to Clinton Twp, MI, where they raised their two daughters. They decided to move to Gaylord, MI after he retired in 1998.

John enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his biggest passion was Cowboy Action Shooting and PPC (Police Pistol Combat). His excitement for shooting was infectious and he tried to get as many people as he could involved. Besides his love for shooting, he had a greater love for his family. He was always there to help, whether it was with homework, fixing cars or toys, talking, or crying on his shoulders. He enjoyed all the time spent with his loved ones, family trips, dinners or even just sitting quietly (as much as he could). His smile and laugh brought joy to your heart and you couldn’t help but do the same.

John is survived by his daughters, Tina (Mike) Kucka and Samantha Wahmhoff; his siblings, Theodore (Linda) Sharpe, Marie (Gary) Watt, and Robert (Amee) Sharpe; his eight grandchildren, Chastity and Autumn Zimmer, Anthony and Hunter Kucka, Izicck Sharpe, and Corbin, Conner, and Keyara Wahmhoff. His love will also live on by his many nieces and nephews along with his great nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., at the Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center Ave, Gaylord, MI 49735. Visitation will be held at Nelson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
