Janice Ann Mero, age 64, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, with her loving sons by her side.

Janice was born on December 11, 1958, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Howard and Jean (Cheney) Carey.

She grew up between Atlanta and Gaylord, Michigan, and graduated from Gaylord High School in 1977.

She held many different roles and titles over the years, but being a full-time mom to her two sons, Joel and Curtis, was her greatest passion.

Janice was known for her infectious smile and laughter, and the love that she had for the people in her life. She was happiest with her toes in the sand, on a warm, sunny day, or sitting around a table playing games and enjoying conversations and laughter and enjoying holidays with family and friends. She also loved dancing to her favorite music and spending time vacationing with her siblings. Her most recent joy in life was her role as a grandma, and she cherished the memories that she made with her granddaughter, Ella, and loved getting to meet her newest granddaughter, Sophia.

Janice is survived by her sons, Joel (Brittany) Mero of Alma, Michigan, and Curtis Mero of Gaylord; her granddaughters, Ella and Sophia Mero; her siblings, Cheryl (Frank) Kucharek, Tim (Cara Kinnear) Carey, Jeff (Julie Lanctot) Carey, Dale (Robin) Carey, and Lynn (Ron) Welker; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Howard, and Jean Carey.

  4. My Dear Friend… the love and laughter, along with the pain and sorrow has bonded us as sisters. The memories of our times together bring me great joy. Chasing kids, playing Scrabble, our walks around the subdivision and the great times on the dance floor. I will continue to ” Take those old records off the shelf” and dance those dances for you. May Paradise enjoy you, as much as I have.
God Bless the family, you’re in my prayers. Hugs to all, especially Joey and Curtis. ❤️
    Love, Connie

My heart goes out to her entire family. Especially her son Curtis. I can say that I am very thankful that I was able to cross paths with Janice. I will forever be grateful for her. For without her my daughter wouldn’t have her uncle curti. You may be gone from our site but never far from our hearts.

We all have been family since we were kids. Janice was always such a sweet person. We will always remember her beautiful smile… We feel sooo blessed to have known her. She was ALWAYS available to anyone in need and was especially helpful with her sister Cheryl after her stroke. Even when she didn’t feel well herself she was always there for her.
If we can help with anything, please let us know. We Love you guys!

Janice was always so kind to my little brother and I. She was a great woman who raised 2 great kids. My heart breaks for you.

  11. Joey and Curtis……..How comforting for you to read comments from so many people whose paths crossed your mother’s. Memories are born from one’s actions and your mother left us with so many treasures that our hearts will never forget. Bless you both and bless your mother in heaven.

  12. Sending condolences to Janice’s family. A loss of a mother, sister, friend, leaves a hole in your heart. Fill it full of beautiful memories, remember her laugh, and the stories she would tell. She is in a good place with our God. She will be looking over each of you, each day.

  13. Thoughts and prayers are with the family and Janice. I have not seen her in years and lost track of her.
She will be missed by all who knew her she was a sweet and kind lady!
