George Edward Monroe, 68, of Gaylord, MI, formerly of Indian Lake, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 9, 2019, peacefully at home.

George was born on October 13, 1951, in Miles City, MT, a son of the late Harold E. and Julia (Kron) Monroe.

George was a lifelong musician who loved to play the left-handed bass guitar for numerous local bands. He loved his family and friends.

He was preceded by eight siblings, Edith E. Monroe, Russell Monroe, Erma Jean Auske, Bonnie Alspaugh, Linda Early, Betty Jo Monroe, Judy B. Monroe, and Sunshine Cummins; and step-son Robert Charles.

George is survived by his wife, Kathy Monroe, and stepsons, Shawn Kayner, and Gary Kayner; sons, Waylon B.  (Angela) Monroe of Lakeview, Ohio, George R. Monroe of Russells Point, Ohio; daughters, Jules Monroe of Austin, TX, Amby J Morrison of Lakeview, Ohio, and Maggie Monroe of Versailles, Ohio; grandchildren, Jake Hoel, Emily Hoel, Maximus Gallaty, Amber Monroe, Pvt. Monroe J.T., Paige Monroe, Hadon Monroe, Bradon Monroe, Isaiah Judd, Brandon Palaisa, Colleen Palasia, Danielle Palaisa, and Brenna Monroe; and step-grandchildren, Ava Kayner and Phoebe Kayner; many nieces and nephews; and sister, Bobbie Monroe of Bellefontaine, Ohio.

The family wishes to remember George privately.  There will be a Celebration of life at a later date.

    Aunt Kathy I am truly saddened to see this. I feel such grief for you and all of your family. George was a ray of sunshine in your life that was missing. Sending prayers to help through this tough time. God bless you all.

  3. George was a wonderful caring man who had a genuine interest in and appreciation for those around him. He always made it a point to let others know what they meant to him. I will miss him.

  5. Kathy, I’m so sorry for your loss. I was married to his late wife, Alison. Amazingly the three of us became good friends. He was a great step father to my daughter, Amanda. I’ll always be grateful to him for that and the friendship we had. Stay strong. I share your loss.

  6. George was truly a great man! I loved hearing come in the post office and yell Gingerale across the dock. He was so nice and would do anything for anyone. Miss you George…RIP
