Genevie Yvonne Burzynski, 90, of Gaylord, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021.

She was born to Harold C. and Lorena L. (Blood) Corbin on March 29, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan.

Ginny graduated from Johannesburg High School in 1949.

On October 21, 1950, at St. Mary Church in Gaylord, Ginny was joined in marriage to Joseph Burzynski, by Monsignor Francis Kaminski.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, doing ceramics, puzzles, gardening, bird watching especially cardinals, traveling, shopping at Hallmark, and butterflies. In her downtime, she enjoyed working on word fill-in books. Ginny was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Mary Cathedral parish, and a long-time member of St. Mary Altar Rosary Society.

No event or occasion would go by without a card from Ginny and she was honest to a fault.

In her later years, she enjoyed spending time at the Otsego Haus.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; son, Victor; son-in-law, Charles Pickett; siblings, William, Dwight, and Verla Rusch; sister-in-law, Mildred Corbin; and brothers-in-law, Edward, Leon, Chester, and Bennie.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Porches for the wonderful care that Ginny received.

She is survived by her children, Emily Pickett, Linette (Harold) Noa, Pamella (James) Bordner, Gerald, Timothy, and Beverly (Mark) Mathews; daughter-in-law, Linda Burzynski; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Robert) Thomas, and Kathleen (Raad) Mooneyhan; sisters-in-law, Claudia Burzynski, Gertrude Burzynski, Theresa Smolak, Bernadette Burzynski, and Betty (Ron) Damer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., from St. Mary Cathedral, 606 N. Ohio Ave., Gaylord, MI 49735. St. Mary Cathedral will Live Stream the Mass, please click this link provided.

Visitation will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being offered by St. Mary Altar Rosary Society at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday, October 6, at St. Mary Cathedral, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Cathedral Endowment Fund, 606 N. Ohio Ave., Gaylord, MI 49735.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

  8. I am sorry to hear of Mrs. Burzynski’s passing. She was always a very nice lady. I remember delivering the news paper to their house when I was a young boy.
