Surrounded by her family, Jennifer Lynne Gasco of Cross Village, passed away on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 after succumbing to complications from the flu.

Jen was born January 22nd, 1978 in Petoskey, the daughter of David and Patrice (Meekins) Heinz and grew up in Harbor Springs. She graduated from Harbor Springs High School in 1996 before going on to earn her bachelor’s degree in special education from Central Michigan University.

On July 17th, 2010, Jen married the love of her life, Scott Justin Gasco, at Camp Petosega in Petoskey, with their son Jacob Edward Gasco by their side. According to Jen, “Next to the day I had Jacob, this was the best day of my life!”

Jen’s greatest love was her family. Her husband and her son were her everything. She gave all her time and energy to her Jacob, her “Slice of Life”. Jen loved nature; she always had her bird feeders full for her feathered friends. Jen was an advocate for all those with special needs. She not only strived to make her son’s life better but also make the life of all those with special needs better. She loved without question, forgave without hesitation, and would give without being asked. She was bright and happy and loved beyond any words can say. She was taken from this earth and those that love and needed her way too soon. She will be so very missed by those that knew and loved her.

Jenny was preceded in death by her sister Kathie Heinz; grandparents Lyle and Ann Heinz; and grandmothers Kathleen Meekins and Mary Gasco. She is survived by her husband, Scott; son Jacob; parents Dave and Pat Heinz; Scott’s parents Edward and Margaret Gasco; sister Alice (Eric) Matthews (Eric James, Kaylinn, Camron) brother Dave Heinz II (Jenna, Nicholas); Scott’s sister Carla (Scott) LaFreniere (Spencer and Jameson); Scott’s brother Edward (Crystal) Gasco (Alicia and Tressa); and by countless Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

A celebration of life will take place from 11am-2pm at The Holy Childhood Parish Hall in Harbor Springs on Saturday, February 24th, 2018.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, P.O. Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734. Friends and family may leave condolences online at nelsonsfuneralhome.com.
