Frederick Henry Sehl, Jr., of Prescott, MI, formerly of Gaylord, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 24, 2022.

He was born in the car, on the way from Vanderbilt to the hospital in Grayling, on February 6, 1949.

Fred was extremely proud of serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC for his basic training, then deployed to Germany.   He was so very proud of being a Veteran and the National Anthem and US Flag always brought tears to his eyes.

Fred’s life was varied in the career paths he chose along the way; small farmer, sawmill operator, truck driver, truck owner/operator, school bus driver, raised horses and cattle, and retired animal whisperer.

Fred had three children with his first wife; Tina (Patrick) Menhennick of Marquette and two estranged children, Brenda Bergman and Frederick Sehl III.

He is survived by his second wife, Jill Sehl, of Prescott, MI.  One sister he had a special relationship with, Marlene (Mike) Deatrick, of Gwinn, and their two boys, John and Jake; and a special Uncle, Robert (Vicki) Sehl, of Gaylord, who was not only a relative but also a close friend. He will be missed dearly by those closest to him.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until the time of service.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson Funeral Home.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
