Fawn Marie Vipond, 55, of Kalkaska, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Fawn was born in Gaylord, Michigan, on April 26, 1966, to Ralph and Joy Mankowski.

In 1987, Fawn married Jody Black. They were blessed with two daughters, Bambi Dee-Marie, and Faline Vertina.

Fawn enjoyed so many things in life. Time spent with family, mushroom hunting, and gardening were among her favorites, but being a grandma was number one. She spent the last ten years lounging on the Boardman River with her husband, watching the wildlife, befriending chipmunks, and building beautiful rock gardens. She loved to crochet blankets of mixed colors and recently discovered diamond art. Playing cards around the kitchen table and laughing with her girls, post-midnight, was a normal occurrence. Her party planning skills were always the best. When “donut day” rolled around, everyone had their job. Fawn was the cook and 17 dozen donuts were made. If anyone left her home hungry, it was their own fault.

Fawn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Joy Mankowski, and her previous husband, Jody Black.

She is survived by her husband, Larry “Kimmer” Kim Vipond; daughters, Bambi Black, and Faline Black; stepdaughter, Charlotte (Danny) Stephans; grandchildren, Piper, Tucker, Cashton, Austin, Corbin, Morgan, and Nicole; great-granddaughters, Aubrey and Evelyn; siblings, Ralph Mankowski, Shyanne (Greg) Palmer, Keven Mankowski, Cashensa (Mike) Swantek, Brent Mankowski, Kayne (Mandi) Mankowski, Chantell (Ed) Paquette, and Leon (Laura) Mankowski; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. from the Nelson Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
