Emily Renee Poirier, age 19,  of Ocala, Florida passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 6, 2023.  She was born on September 17, 2003, in Petoskey, Michigan. She was well-known in her church communities and by the kids she worked with at Manton Baptist Church in Manton, Michigan, and Heritage Baptist Church in Ocala, Florida.  She willingly volunteered in church ministries and served alongside her family.
She made friends with people of all ages and levels of ability.  Emily’s good attitude and likable personality helped make her easily loveable.  She enjoyed crocheting, writing, and fashion but loved all things horses and dolphins.  She aspired to work in a field training dolphins. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory in addition to her parents, Daniel and Samantha Poirier, siblings, Daniel Chatters and Andrea Chatters of Clio, Michigan, Breanna Miller (James Martin) of Johannesburg, Michigan, Mitchell Poirier (Nicole Henderson) of Charlevoix, Paige Poirier of Charlevoix, Wyatt Poirier of Ionia, Michigan, Jesse Poirier of Interlochen, Michigan, and Katlyn Poirier of Ocala, Florida; grandparents Evonne Ormsbee of Vanderbilt, Michigan, Susan Lucas of Belleview, Florida, Steve (Joan) Elenbaas of McBain, Michigan; nieces Luna, Harmany, Harper; nephews Liam, Koda, Zander; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. 
Emily was preceded in death by her grandpa Richard Ormsbee, uncle Lucas Poirier, and cousin Brittany Poirier. 

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 4 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church in Ocala, Florida with a short visitation beginning at 3:30 pm.  A light meal will be served after. 
On July 19th, 2023 at 11 AM there will be a Celebration of Life held at Wolverine Baptist Church in Wolverine, Michigan, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. A graveside committal service will take place at Koehler Township Cemetary in Indian River, Michigan immediately after. A luncheon will be provided at the church following services for friends and family to gather together. 
In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with funeral and transportation costs can be sent directly to the Countryside Funeral Home in Anthony, Florida, or Nelson’s Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Gaylord, Michigan.

  2. I am so very sorry for your loss of Emily. There aren’t any words sufficient when you lose a child, especially so suddenly and tragically. I wish I could tell you it gets easier, but it simply changes as the years pass. I shall forever remember her as the little “Emmy” that was so full of love and smiles. May she fly high and dance in the sky alongside Britt. Prayers and healing to the family ❤️
