Gregory Alan Eckardt went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the age of 59.

Greg was born to Theodore and Constance (Goosen) Eckardt on June 17, 1958 in Detroit’s Women’s Hospital. He graduated from Romeo, MI High School and went on to graduate at Northern Michigan University. He then joined the U.S. Marines at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia. After serving his country, he married Elaine and retired to live with his wife in Gaylord, MI.

Greg enjoyed helping others when he was able to. He liked putting a smile on peoples’ faces. He loved to watch the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings play. He enjoyed listening to the radio daily, whether it was a Christian station or music.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; parents Constance and Theodore; siblings Gordon (Cheryl) Eckardt and Sue Bansamir (Jens); nieces Elaine and Tess O’Neill; nephew Patrick O’Neill; mother-in-law Robin Kairis; brother-in-law Charles Kairis; and great-niece Madison.

Greg is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Goosen and Albert and Ruth Eckardt; and father-in-law William Kairis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI, 49374.
