Duane Dale Bale, 86, of Johannesburg, MI, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021.
Duane was born on December 27, 1934, in Johannesburg, MI, to Harry and Estella (Delaney) Bale.
He served his country in the United States Army, from 1957 until 1963. He worked for the Otsego County Road Commission until he retired in 1991.
Duane was a member of the Old Depot gang in Johannesburg, a volunteer fireman for Charlton Township, and a volunteer for the Council on Aging.
He worked many years with the Nelson Funeral Home, maintaining the grounds at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Camp 8 Cemetery, and Hetherton Cemetery.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lora; brother, Bob; niece, Jessica; brother-in-law, Jack; and dear friend, Marcella Black.
He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Lee; cousins, Walter (Marge) Long, Howard Long, Marge Hazard, Marie Potter and Noreen (Larry) Dipzinski; niece, Sheryl (John) Bivins; great-nephews, John and Joey, great-nieces, Mary Ellen, and Anna; great-great-nieces, Harper, Emma, Abby, and Julianna, great-great-nephew, Scott, and special friends Mark and Brenda Hoult.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. from the Nelson Funeral Home, 135 N. Center Ave., Gaylord, MI, 49735. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gaylord Church of the Nazarene, VFW Post 1518, or Hospice of Michigan.
