Dawn Lynn Reynolds, 61, of Roscommon, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, took her final breath earthside and was welcomed into eternity on November 6, 2020, after a long, hard-fought battle against cancer. She was born to Diana Kapagian and the late Nels Johnson on January 20, 1959. Dawn was a graduate of Roscommon High School. She went on to work at Kirtland Community College as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean where she was honored as having the longest tenure in the Community College’s history (42 years).

Dawn was married to her best friend and soul mate, Larry Reynolds of Roscommon, for 12 years.

Dawn was an avid outdoorsman, and, any chance she got, she was in the side-by-side with Larry. They loved camping and fishing and just being outdoors together along with family and friends. She loved her four-legged babies, too, and it was common to have her little dog, Misty, in the fishing boat with them. Dawn also loved to decorate for Christmas, and their house on the hill could be seen for at least a mile. Dawn had a smile that would light up a room and was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved her friends who became her family.

She is survived by her husband, children; Justin (Michelle) McGillis currently stationed in South Carolina, Shante Reynolds of Grayling, Mandy Reynolds of St Helen, and Matt Reynolds of Roscommon, grandchildren; Abigail, Garrett, Sarah, Megan, Gabriel, Hannah, Izaha, Trevor, Colby, Ashlyn, Carter, and Libby, mother; Diana Kapagian, step-mother, Diana Johnson, sisters; Lisa (Dan) Picot and Cheryl (Brian) Farmer, many nieces and nephews, and many friends who have turned into family.

She was preceded in death by her father Nels Johnson, and son, Larry Davis.

All who loved her dearly will miss her and will never forget her tenacity, sheer will and fight, wit, charm, and her undying love for them.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MediLodge of Gaylord, 508 Random Ln., Gaylord, MI 49735.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

  12. Oh my, I’m so shocked to hear this saddening news! It was a pleasure working with Dawn at Kirtland. She was an awesome help to me when I had something brewing at Kirtland that needed “an approval” from an administrator. She never let me down, I either got a quick in person meeting because she went to bat for me, or she was able to get me a needed signature to proceed to just do my job! My heart breaks for her family, way too young to be gone from this Earth. “Cheers” to Dawn as she rests eternally in Heaven, making that a better place too.😊

  13. Prayers for the Reynolds family. Dawn was my friend. I will miss seeing her bright blue eyes and gorgeous smile and our talks about NASCAR. God always takes the good first. God Bless and Keep you Dawn.

Dawn and I worked a lot of years together at the college. She always helped me with scheduling classes and getting the correct part-timers’ names next to their classes. We always could share great visits. Sorry you have left us, but I understand why you had to leave. Hope you are camping with all of your family that left before you. Rest in peace, my friend.

  15. I just learned about Dawn’s struggle with cancer and that she recently passed away. She and I were friends in our middle school years and coworkers for more than 30 years at Kirtland College. She was a great friend and wonderful to work with throughout the years. She will be greatly missed!

We were so sorry to learn of Dawn’s illness and finally of her passing. Dawn was a wonderful friend, neighbor and co-worker during our many years at Kirtland Community College. She was always the go-to person at the college. She could get things done or knew what was happening when no one else did. We always looked forward to seeing the Christmas decorations that would go up at her home on the hill. When She and Larry got married, the decorations really grew. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Larry and their family.

  18. Larry, we are very sorry for your loss. Mother and I send our love and many prayers to you and your family during this difficult time. We are here if you need anything.
