Daniel “Dan” Slivinski, age 72, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at home on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Dan was born June 1, 1950, in Grayling, Michigan, to Walter and Isabelle (Jurek) Slivinski. The family resided in Gaylord and Dan graduated from St. Mary High School in 1968. On September 7, 1974, he married Laura Blasko.  Dan and Laura remained in Gaylord on the family farm, Stoney Hill Farm, and raised three children,  Shelly, Linda, and Jeffrey.

Dan worked for Georgia Pacific for 39 years as a boiler operator.  He also farmed full-time, raising mostly beef cattle and crops, for the majority of his farming years.  Dan loved farming, polka dancing, hunting, playing euchre, and spending time with his family.  In his later years, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and extra-curricular activities, held a special place in his heart and became a priority. For many years he was actively involved in 4-H with his children, serving as supervisor of the livestock barn at the Otsego County Fair as well as serving on the Fair Board. Dan also served on boards with Farm Bureau and the USDA.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Isabelle; sisters, Barbara, Theresa, and Diana; and brother, Frank.

He is survived by his wife Laura; his children, Shelly (Dan) Bozzer, Linda Weiss (fiancé Steven Sulkey), and Jeffrey;  grandchildren, Logan, Brooke, and Carter Bozzer,  Kate, Cooper, and Kenzie Weiss, Drake, and Bazil Slivinski, and Madison and Blake Sulkey; sister, Veronica Dainoviec of Petoskey; and brothers, John (Margie) Slivinski and Leonard (Joyce) Slivinski, all of Gaylord.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., from St. Mary Cathedral in Gaylord.  Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
