Clyde Edwin “Ed” Smith, Jr. passed away on July 12, 2019 at his home in Gaylord, MI. Ed was born on September 26, 1953 to Clyde and Dorothy (Shirey) Smith in Lansing, MI. Ed graduated from high school in Perry, MI. He married Karen Christie on June 17, 1978. He entered the U.S. Army on active duty on July 19, 1979 and served until December 29, 1982.
Ed worked in different factories after his military service. He was a fun guy to be around and made friends everywhere he went. Ed lived his life on his own terms and fought for things he wanted. He loved classic rock, drinking iced tea, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Ed is survived by his two daughters Amanda (Geoffery) Alley, and Eva (Rodney) Boonie; grandchildren Daphne, Isaiah, Malachi, Micah, Adelynn, Trinity, and Isaac; his sisters Ruth (Joe) Wollos, Barb (Walt) Knickerbocker, and Kay (Bert) Howard as well many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Clydia Sue Smith.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2:00 p.m. at Cherry Grove Church of the Nazarene, 8450 S 29 Rd, Cadillac, MI 49601.
