Charles LeRoy McClure, age 73, died peacefully in his sleep at home on January 4, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on September 28, 1945 to James and Faye McClure. After his father finished his final tour as a fighter pilot in WWII, the family relocated to Boyne City.
He was affectionately known as “Charlie Brown” to his family and friends. Charlie found happiness in his family, his relationship with God, music, playing guitar, and airplanes. Charlie met his beloved wife, Irene, in Boyne City, MI in 1964. They married in Boyne City on March 18, 1965. They lived a life full of adventure. First moving to Colorado, then Montana, then to Alaska in 1975 where they resided and raised their children until moving back to Boyne City in 1986. Charlie’s life was full of love, laughter, and wonderful experiences in spite of many trials in life. His passions in life were playing guitar and flying. He played the guitar proficiently and often…seldom a day passed when he didn’t pick up one of his guitars. He loved playing music with his family and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother (James Wesley McClure), and his dearly beloved son, Steven McClure (May 11, 2018). He is survived by his loving wife, Irene; his children, Tamilla McClure, CharLynn McClure, Charles McClure II, and daughter-in-law Lisa McClure (nee Hunt); grandchildren, Samantha, Victoria, William, Steven (and wife Emma), Becky, Heather, and Timothy; six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his best friend from youth, Jim Demler.
Charles will be cremated and his ashes placed at Great Lakes National Cemetery. A memorial service is being planned and will be announced.

Charlie was so packed full of knowledge. Charlie and Irene came into our lives almost five years ago. We grew to love them both very much. Charlie, Bart & will miss you very much.
