Marion Butka, age 89, passed peacefully, April 24, 2018, with her family by her side.
She was born April 17, 1929, on the family farm in Sparr, the daughter of Edolfons and Rose (Matelski) Dipzinski. Marion married Leon Butka on August 28, 1948, in Gaylord.
She is survived by her children, Marcia (John) Steele of Berkley, Gerald (Nancy) Butka of Berkley, Michael (Colleen) Butka of Livonia, Doreen (Dennis) Moser of Oxford, and Karen (Gary) Koslakiewicz of Westland; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, John Dipzinski, Bernard Dipzinski, Patricia Sides, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, parents, seven brothers, and two sisters.
She was a fierce pinochle player, loved ice fishing, a cold beer, and could dance the Polka like a pro. Marion’s work here is done. She has loved and cared for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and it is time to see Leo, her family, and friends that passed before her. Special thanks to the caring staff of Angela Hospice.
