Ann Chase (Anastasia Makarewicz) passed away on March 8, 2022, at the age of 102. She was a loving and caring mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma.
Ann was born on October 15, 1919, to Joseph and Blanche Makarewicz on their family farm in Elmira, MI. She met her husband, Bert, in Elmira and the couple moved to the Detroit area after they married. Together they operated Chase Grocery in Royal Oak, MI, and raised their family. Ann was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Clawson. She prayed the Rosary daily, and sometimes several times a day with different Rosaries.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Blanche, husband: Bert, children: Joyce Curyla and Bernie Chase, siblings: Hattie, Pauline, Clara, Pearl, Monica, Adele, Susan, Ted, Leo, Al, Kise, and Isadore.
Ann is survived by her sons, Dan (Cathy) Chase, and Perry (Debbie) Chase, 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and her brother, Joe.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 12, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons, 2600 Crooks Rd., Troy, MI. (248) 362-2500.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 15, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 2567 Buell Rd., Elmira, MI 49730. Visitation at church will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Her final resting place will be, St. Thomas Cemetery, Elmira, MI.
