What can you say about this wonderful brother, the “fun uncle”, and an all-around, once-in-a-lifetime character you will never forget?

Joseph E. Lewandowski, age 74, of Gaylord, was born September 6, 1949, and went home on the 19th of October 2023, with the love of his entire family and his brother at his side. He went to join his parents, Bernard and Carrie (Borowiak) Lewandowski, in the arms of the Lord. Preceding him on his way home were his brothers, Larry and James; his sisters, Debbie Love and Margaret Lewandowski; as well as a very special aunt, Sadie Borowiak; and nephew, Eric Montroy, his work buddy for years.

Joe served his country in the US Army and received his bachelor’s degree in sociology. He worked for City Works and later began his career in construction, for the majority of his life. He loved the game of baseball, especially the Tigers. He loved being and working outdoors and found ice fishing to be a good waste of a day. Joe loved helping people and was always there when you needed a hand.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Ann Miller, Thomas (Sherri), Bernie (Craig) Seidell, William (Maureen), Patricia Monroe, Robert (Cryinda), and Richard; his sister-in-law, Janet; brother-in-law, Jim Love; and all his wonderful nephews and nieces who made his life complete.

He wanted you to know he loved you all.

A Mass of Christian Burial, followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, will be held in the spring of 2024.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord MI 49734

Thanks Frankie!!! Growing up in the neighborhood was a blast being around you guys! Uncle Joe was the best growing up. Always enjoyed playing with us kids and showing us how to play guitar as well as construction further down the road. He will be missed!!!
