Dale A. Schellie, 62, of Gaylord, passed away on October 8, 2023, while working in New Mexico.

Dale was born in Rogers City, MI, on May 22, 1961, to Richard and Janet (Koss) Schellie.  He moved to the Gaylord area in 1992.  In 1999 he began his own business, North Central Production, based in Michigan.  Dale’s hard work and dedication in the gas and oil industry took him to many other states, including Texas, New Mexico, and Wyoming. 

He enjoyed long walks and visits to Deadman’s Hill each fall. 

Dale is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karin; three children, Jeremy (Kelsey) Schellie, Heather (Derek) Trinkle, and Bridget Schellie; three grandchildren, Madeline, Whitney, and Lucia; mother, Janet Schellie-Krajniak; and siblings, Randy-Scott, Danny, and Shari (Scott) Frankland, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Schellie; and his grandson, Charles James “CJ”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Mary Cathedral.

Visitation will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be offered at the funeral home on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at St. Mary Cathedral, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

  2. Dale taught me so much as a mentor in the oilfield. I’ll always appreciate how giving he was with his knowledge. We will miss you Dale.

    I feel blessed to have known him. He will be missed by many.

  5. Dale was a one of kind. The world lost a good one. I had the pleasure of working for Dale in Wyoming and Texas. It took awhile to get in with him but when you did, it was a fun ride. I’m blessed to have known him for all these years. Fly high my friend!!!
