Michael Joseph Brown, age 62 of Gaylord, passed away at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey on Friday, July 20, 2018.

Mike was born in Traverse City to Peter and Cecilia (Higgins) Brown on August 28, 1955. One of six siblings, he grew up with a deep appreciation for his family. After his years in the military, Mike worked at Haliburton, Ward Lake Energy, and Superior Well Services for over ten years each. In his spare time, Mike loved to golf, attend family birthday parties, and, most of all, spending time with his daughter Lauren.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Brown; and siblings Sandra (Glenn) Paradis, Susan Miner, Cecilia Gnadt, Thomas (Sharon) Brown, and Timothy Brown.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Cecilia; and brother-in-law Fred Gnadt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:30 AM from St. Mary Cathedral.  The family will receive friends at St. Mary Cathedral on Saturday (July 28th) from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Elk Rapids at 3:00 PM.

Arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, P.O. Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

    I didn’t know Mike or his brothers but I know all his sisters! Such a great trio!! Sue has become one of my best friends. I worked with her and Cupie. I know all of the siblings are close and will be missing Mike. May he Rest In Peace.

    My sincerest condolences to Tim and Lauren and the Brown family. I worked with and for Mike at Ward Lake and Arrow Oilfield. Always a happy-go-lucky, humorous guy. Very sad to read this news.
