Kirk Yodzevicis, 48, of Gaylord,Michigan,  passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.

He was born on May 18, 1971, in Detroit, Michigan; his parents are Karl and Elaine (Kozak) Yodzevicis.

He graduated from Novi High School in 1989, Alma College in 1993, and his law degree was from Ohio Northern University.

More than anything, Kirk loved his family.  He was so proud to be dad to Skylar, Ethan, and Jack, and husband to Shannon.

After family came everything else.  Kirk loved to read about history, baseball, and the history of baseball.  He was a lifelong devoted Tigers fan. He was a backyard astronomer who enjoyed spending time learning new things. He and Jack would often engage in lively intellectual discussions. He discovered a love for theater as a student at Novi High School and passed that love on to Skylar and Ethan.  They have all enjoyed being on stage with Gaylord Community Productions in various shows. Kirk had a huge network of friends and has sustained lasting friendships from high school and college. He was well regarded throughout the community. He was a friend to everyone he met to the point that he knew all the convenience store clerks in town by name and wiled away many an hour with the guys at 7-11. He had recently found much joy in training and spending time with his new puppy, Leo.

The impact he had on others with his humor, generosity, and friendship was real and he will be long remembered fondly by many.

Kirk is survived by his wife Shannon, children Jack, Ethan, and Skylar, his parents Karl and Elaine Yodzevicis and his sister Kristy (Rick) Acker.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 4, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church, Gaylord, Michigan. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life, or to the children for a college fund, through the Nelson Funeral Home, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

  5. First of all, my sincere condolences to Kirk’s family. I knew Kirk from working at 7-11. Always cheerful, witty and a great conversationalist. He was the proudest pappa on this planet. It was a great pleasure to have known you even for a little while……Peace and light Kirk.

  6. I met Kirk when he interviewed me for sunfrog shirts. He was the first friend I made there and am so so sorry to see he has passed. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

I loved seeing your growing family and young children at the little Presbyterian Church a few years back. Kirk was kindly, friendly, giving. I later learned that he had greatly helped my daughter’s family several times with legal matters. What a loss to this part of the world in his leaving so early. My sympathies to you Shannon and your children.
