Jim Cuddie of Vanderbilt passed away at Otsego Memorial Hospital on March 2, 2019. Jim was born May 20, 1946 in Gladwin Michigan.

He built his reputation as an outstanding speed contest rider throughout Central Michigan while still in high school. Upon graduation from Gladwin High School he set out to ride professionally, nationally, and eventually internationally.  He rode in thousands of races winning over thirty-eight hundred races.  Jim had a rare connection with horses that few people possess.

Jim also served as Steward of the National Jockeys Guild for many years.

Jim was a loyal friend and compassionate toward anyone in need.

For the recent several years Jim has worked for Michigan Human Services, helping various individuals who are unable to live completely independently.

Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest in Gladwin County next to his parents and a son who preceded him in death.

    Such a nice person I met while working as Postmaster at the Vanderbilt post office. I enjoyed our visit at the post office.
