Jacqueline Louise Hale, age 83, passed away on October 22, 2019, in Rockford, Michigan. She was born in Traverse City, Michigan, on August 16, 1936.
During high school, Jacqueline was a cheerleader, played the trombone in band, and was in the glee club. In her junior year at Gaylord High School, Jacqueline met her husband, Robert C. Hale. They were married on August 17, 1957, by Reverend Issacs. Jacqueline and Robert were members of Gaylord First Congregational Church.
She was very active in her children’s school functions. She was known as the punch and cookie lady during their elementary years. In addition, she was involved in boy scouts, the local 4-H clubs, Gaylord Alpenfest, the Otsego County fair, and church activities.
In 1975 the family moved to Rockford, Michigan. It was there she became involved with the Girlscouts, and Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed reading, bowling, ceramics, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She was an excellent seamstress.
Jacqueline worked as a bookkeeper for Archie Campbell before receiving her teaching certificate, which allowed her to teach on Drummond Island in a one-room classroom. Becoming a registered nurse in 1992 was her final calling. She worked for St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, where she specialized in OBGYN, Mother/Children care, PEDS, and Neonatal care. She was also certified in counseling those who experience the loss of an infant.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Hale; sons, Robert Steven (Lisa) Hale of Grand Rapids, Jon Kevin (Michelle) Hale of Belmont, Phillip Glenn (Rose) Hale of Grand Rapids; daughters, Linda Renee Hale of Rockford, and Tara Lynne (Thomas Jr.) Pappas of California; grandchildren, Navarre, Spencer (Ellyn), Gunner, Nathan, Allison, Morgan, Sarah, Madison, Angelia (Shawn) Bravata, Tyler (Katelind), Victoria, and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Ronin, Eli, Bennett, and Vada; brothers, Richard Glenn (Wilma) Charnes of Indiana; Stephen Lynn (Betty) Charnes of Indiana, Alvia Lane Charnes of Indiana and Virginia Ann (Walter) Hall of Jacksonville, Florida; brother-in-law, HC Wallen of Washington, D.C. Jacqueline is also survived by many many many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Sandra Leah (Albert) Colter, Kathryn Sue Wallen, and sister-in-law Mary Charnes.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 27, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord, Michigan, and on Monday, October 28, 2019, at the First Congregational Church from Noon until the time of services.
