Howard will be remembered, in part, for his infectious spirit of volunteerism. A “champion” in many ways for our community spirit of helping and caring for others. Howard will missed.

To Mrs. Cheney and family – I’m saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Cheney. As a fellow Road to Recovery driver we shared a passion for caring for those with cancer. I also got to visit with him several times at Relay For Life and while I worked in the community. Mr. Cheney never failed to greet me, always giving me a warm, two-handed hand shake and always being genuinely concerned about me.
May love guide you through your journey of grief, may you know how many hundreds (probably thousands) of lives were impacted by this sweet fellow. May you share years and laughter as you recall his life well-lived, but still too short.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Howard will be missed by the entire community and especially the Kiwanis Club of Gaylord. Howard was my mentor when I joined Kiwanis 26 years ago. His passion for sharing his time with the community was in inspiration to all our members. Thanks, Howard..
