Frances Nowak

Frances Nowak, 75, of Gaylord, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2019. 

Born on May 22, 1944 in Gaylord, MI she was the daughter of Walter and Josephine (Jaruzel) Kosiara. 

As a lifelong resident of Gaylord, Frances loved to serve her community. She was a Chester Township Board Trustee for 15 years and later a Board of Review member. She also served as a board member of the Otsego County Fire Department for 16 years. As a longtime member and graduate of St. Mary Cathedral, she was a member of the parish Altar Rosary Society.

Frances was proud of her Catholic faith and Polish heritage. She loved to dance and sing! She was a member of the St. Mary Cathedral choir for many years and attended polka dances regularly. Her two grandchildren were her pride and joy!

Frances is survived by her daughter, Lynnmarie Mullen (Daniel); her sister, Regina Lelo (James); her sister- in- law, Barbara Kosiara; her granddaughter, Mackenzie and grandson, Christopher. As well as 7 nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Josephine Kosiara; her sisters, Marge and Dolores and brother, Joseph. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, June 28, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Cathedral with a visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Visitation at the Nelson Funeral Home will be held Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. 

St. Mary Altar Rosary Society will offer a rosary at the funeral home, Thursday evening, June 27th at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gaylord St. Mary Cathedral Schools or Highland Elementary School in honor of Frances Nowak, through the Nelson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

    Seventy years of friendship seems like a long time, but now that your gone, its not long enough! We had plans, we had dates set and our nightly phone calls.
