Lorraine A. Paffi Downing passed away on September 24, 2017 at the age of 97.

Lorraine was born on May 24, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to Michael and Mary (Gaugush) Schuster. She worked at Sherwin Williams Paint in Chicago, and moved to Lewiston in 1962. Lorraine owned several businesses, including Highview Resort on Little Wolf Lake, the East Twin Bait Shop, and Quickie Chickie Restaurant. She was a member of the 50+ Club, St. Francis Catholic Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Lorraine also loved to play cards and bingo and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her sons, John M. Paffi and David L. (Mary) Paffi; grandchildren Jill Angeski, Mindy Osann, Chris Paffi, Nikki Peters, Haydn Paffi, great-granchildren Bobby Curtis, Nicholas Osann, Savina Osann, and Sonny Peters. She is preceded in death by her husbands John Paffi and Lowell Downing; siblings Charles Schuster and Helen Selven; daughter-in-law Judi Paffi; and grandson James Paffi.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Lewiston at 11am with a burial following at St. Francis Cemetery.

  1. I will miss honesty. Don’t ask her opinion on something if you don’t necessarily want an honest answer!! Conversely, if she gave you a compliment, you knew she liked you!!!

    At a loss for words. We miss you. Wednesdays will never be the same. You are where you wanted to be. Fly high, fly free. You can now play bingo and euchre as much as you want and read til your hearts content. Oh and yes, your 4 kings beat my four gueens! You little stinker! Love you always.
