Audrey Bauer, 83, of Pellston, Michigan, formerly of Crystal Falls, Michigan, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020.

Audrey was born July 7, 1936, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to George and Christina (Henderson) Thomson.

Audrey lived in Pellston, for ten years and was a deacon at Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Indian River, Michigan. She was also a member of the Episcopal Church in St. Ignace, Michigan, until its closing. The church was very important to her, and where she had many good friends.

Before moving to Crystal Falls, in 1969, Audrey was a nurse at a nursing station at Fort George (Chisasibi), Quebec, where she met her loving husband of 42 years George, the love of her life. Upon moving to Crystal Falls, Audrey was a stay at home mother before returning to nursing. She was a nurse and worked in various facilities in Iron and Dickinson counties, including the Iron County Medical Care Faculty in Crystal Falls, from where she retired.

Audrey is survived by two daughters, Gretchen (Donald) Carter, Kristen (Jason) Frye; grand-daughter Lauren Frye; three sisters, and one brother.

She was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.  She enjoyed bird watching, British history, reading, being with her friends and family, hiking and camping, and being with her dog Nellie. At a time when our world needs more compassion and kindness, Audrey’s gentle soul will be missed by those who knew her.

Due to COVID-19, the family will not have a funeral for Audrey at this time. They have planned a memorial celebration of her life, next year on July 7, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Indian River, MI, or your local humane society.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.

This sentence captures the essence of my Aunt Audrey so perfectly.

Always a smile, a positive approach and love in her heart – that was her.
