Prearrangement Counseling
Planning for a funeral in advance of death is called a preplanned or prearranged funeral. During prearrangement counseling you will select the service and merchandise that is right for you. Preplanned funerals may or may not be prefunded.
Prearrangement counseling is available from the Nelson Funeral Home in Gaylord, Michigan, or from our Prearrangement and Planning Center in neighboring Lewiston, Michigan. For more information, or to schedule an appointment for prearrangement counseling, contact the Nelson Funeral Home at (989) 732-1770 or the Nelson Funeral Home Prearrangement & Planning Center located at 4236 Salling Ave., Suite A., Lewiston, MI 49756. The phone number is (989) 786-7836.
At-Need Funerals
Services provided include consultation with family and clergy, arrangement of funeral, preparation and filing of necessary notices, authorizations and consents, and coordination with those providing other portions of the funeral.
Cremation
Cremation is just one form of disposition. Cremation does not limit or dictate the funeral options available. Most cremations are preceded by some type of viewing or funeral service. If the body is viewed, it is usually embalmed. Some religions have specific funeral preferences or requirements. If you don't know, ask your funeral director or clergy.
** For all cremation services, full payment is expected at the time arrangements are made **
After Care
The Nelson Funeral Home has discontinued it's bereavement aftercare services. We will continue to offer an annual candlelight service to honor the memory of those we serve.
