Raymond A. Hyek, age 83, of Lewiston passed away on December 13, 2016.

Raymond was born in Detroit on March 14, 1933 to Louis and Viola (Lowe) Hyek. 

He married Donna (Jenuwine) Hyek on November 24, 1956 in Warren, MI.

Raymond loved people.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and was very proud of his grandchildren. He loved to play golf, cards, and games, and he enjoyed watching all sports.  He served in the United States Army for two years and was a member of the Lewiston Lions Club, Knights of Columbus and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lewiston.  He owned and maintained a resort in Lewiston.   He was the principal of Lewiston Elementary School, Johannesburg-Lewiston High Schools, and then the Superintendent of Johannesburg-Lewiston Schools.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna of 60 years, his children Lynn (Thomas) Fordonski, Sue (Jonathan) Ejuwa, Beth Gotts, and Gerelle (Philip) Huber; grandchildren Katie (Eric), Annie, Nathan, Salena, Jerry, Jonathan, Jessie, Genna, Emalie, Elise, and Claire; siblings Thomas (Joann) Hyek, Janet (Morris) Sullens and brother-in-law Jerry Kast.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother James, and sisters Beverly, Joanie and Eileen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Lewiston, MI. Visitation at the church will begin at 10 AM until the time of Mass.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20 from 2 to 7 PM at Nelson Funeral Home with a Rosary prayer at 7 PM.

Raymond's burial will be held on May 6, 2017 at 12 noon at St. Francis Cemetery in Lewiston.

Memorial contributions in Raymond’s honor can be made to the American Heart Association or Knights of Columbus through Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, PO Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
