Irene Nienaber, age 89, passed away on December 5, 2016.

She was born on May 10, 1927 in Gaylord, MI to Walter and Joanne (Dreffs) Swantek.

Irene loved to travel all around Europe and write about her travels.  She was a business owner in the community for many years.  She loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing.  She was a lifetime member of St. Mary Cathedral.

Irene is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Bill Nienaber, her parents, her brothers Al, Ray and Danny Swantek and sister Reggie Galbraith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 3 PM from St. Mary Cathedral with Father Tyler Bischoff officiating.  Visitation will be from 2 PM until the time of service.

Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery.

To Irene's Family, Don and I will greatly miss the chats we had with Irene at Tendercare. She was across the hall from our daughter and we enjoyed visiting with her every day. We miss her smiling face.

Irene, You served me many meals and good conversation at the Coffee Shop when I worked at Nelson's drug store! You and Bill were great friends through the years!
